The reviews are flooding-in from the road. First up, from the Rochester International Jazz Festival: Rochester Democrat & Chronicle Staff Music Critic Jeff Spevak blogs Carolyn's Friday night appearance here, concluding "Wonderland took country blues to the edge and dangled it by its ankles". Meanwhile the Rochester City News described the audience at Carolyn's Friday night set having "a hard time letting go." Carolyn "packs a punch like I couldn't believe. She embodies her songs fully." AUSTIN CITY LIMITS TAPING [June '08]
You heard the rumors, and indeed it's true. Carolyn Wonderland taped her first appearance on Austin City Limits, last Thursday. Celebrating it's 34th Season on public television, ACL brings the best of new and emerging (and many well-known) artists performing live music in front of a studio audience in the University Of Texas' Communications Building.
The show features Carolyn Wonderland and her band, along with Shelley King, Guy Forsyth and Asleep at the Wheel founder Ray Benson. The Dallas Morning News's Music Blog was the first to chime in with this glowing review, noting "Ms. Wonderland's ACL show, taped as part of a doubleheader that also featured soul/funk band Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings, will air on PBS stations in November."
