Where’s Wonderland, you ask?
After a nice summer tour and some recuperation, we’ve been lucky enough to play with friends and raise money for folks who need it when we can. Had a lovely time playing the Benefit for Harvey Survivors with Guy Forsyth and his amazing crew at Antone’s, felt good to play for HAAM day with Shelley King at Whole Foods. Thanks for being at the shows that bring us all together.
We had a great time at the Blues Bender in Las Vegas!!! So good to hear so many artists and hang out with friends old and new. Intrepid (our awesome booking agency) had a great bunch of bands playing all week! Thanks to Eric McFadden, Anne Harris, Queen Delpine, and Nick Schnebelen for jamming with us!

Carolyn Wonderland releases her 10th album, her follow up to 2015’s “Live Texas Trio”. Her prior studio release, “Peace Meal” (in 2011), reached Top 10 on Billboard’s Blues chart. The qualities that have cemented her notoriety as one of today’s top blues, rock, and Americana performing artists are on full display with this new release. Featuring 8 original songs and 3 covers.
Carolyn says, “It is worth celebrating new music. It is an interesting time to try and release albums. Moon Goes Missing is a collection of songs I was lucky enough to record. It’s happily all over the map. Ty Taylor from Vintage Trouble makes a guest appearance on a song we cowrote, “Hellfire Bitters,” Guy Forsyth guests on a reworking of Bob Dylan’s “Brand New Leopard Skin Pillbox Hat.” (The additional verses on “Pillbox” were from 2004 when Bob asked me to write response verses. I did! It was fun! Figured I should get around to recording it before it fades from my fingers.) The band (Kevin Lance, Bobby Perkins, and myself) were joined by the aforementioned Ty Taylor and Guy Forsyth; Shelley King, Marcia Ball, Red Young, Cole El-Saleh, Shelley Cox, and Oliver Steck on some tracks.…

Carolyn Wonderland’s live album debut is here! Even with the success of studio albums in 2008 (Miss Understood) and again in 2011 (Peace Meal), those who have been fortunate enough to witness, Carolyn shines brightest in live performance, winning legions of fans with her take-no-prisoners approach to the stage. So it made perfect sense to capture that energy of her trio in a full-length album, and even better, to do it in a trio of Texas’ most famous packed houses, Antone’s in Austin, Kessler Theatre in Dallas and Last Concert Café in Houston.
“The reigning queen of Austin blues, Carolyn Wonderland sparks fire on guitar and soulful fury in the force of her vocal grit. Since 2011’s Peace Meal, reveling in Wonderland’s rough and raw Janis Joplin-esque howl and burn-down blues, she’s lent her impeccable riffs to a number of albums, including the LP from the Stooges’ James Williamson, Re-licked.” – Austin Chronicle
The result is Live Texas Trio and in addition to Carolyn, her bandmates Cole El-Saleh on keys and bass and Rob Hooper on drums, she invited guests Guy Forsyth and Shelley King on several tracks. Opening with a blistering take on Leon Russell’s “Palace Of The King,” the collection mixes a combination of tasteful covers (Doug Sahm, Blind Willie Johnson, Larry Campbell) with new originals (including one co-write with Ruthie Foster), and live versions of favorites from prior studio albums (“Walk On”, “Only God Knows When”).…
Carolyn performs on Carson Daly as part of James Williamson’s (the Stooges) project called “Re-licked”.
